Why Sponsor?
Why you should get involved in sponsoring a young person
The reason for this expedition is not only to show everyone, especially children
and young adults, that they can achieve anything in life if they want it badly enough,
but also to raise a substantial amount of money for the benefit of health, education,
charities and medical research which will be nominated during the event.
We are looking forward to being associated with leading charities around the world
to support their efforts in improving the lives of communities in business, education,
health care and medical research.
Many young people between the ages of 16 and 23 from around the world will have
the chance to be assessed for a trip of their lifetime. After applying through the
sponsorship/application process, each nominee has an equal chance to be selected
as one of the 100 young people who will attend the training camps. A selection process
will choose a team of 20 potential expeditioners who will represent the expedition
team and a standby team.
Parents, family members and other interested adults are encouraged to nominate young
people* in their families and local communities by purchasing an entry form for
**US$15. A date for the worldwide telecast to announce the successful nominee –
100 young people from across the world – will be forward by email to all sponsored
applicants. The date will be shown on our website www.antarcticchallenge.net

How the application fee is being used
Part of the Application Fee will be used to assist in the funding the enormous project
costs of making a cinema movie, the documentary and for team training. Other parts
of the application fee go directly to nominated charities. The application fees
are strictly controlled by Trustees and audited regularly by authorities.
Medical assessment
*All young participants selected will be medically assessed by a professional medical
team experienced in the Antarctic environment. Due to the potentially unforgiving
conditions, no risk will be taken. Should any of the participants not be physically
and mentally strong enough the next person qualified will be invited to join the
team. As we will be selecting the potential team members early, they will have the
opportunity to attain the right fitness to enable them to join the team.
**Application fees are tax deductable. Your tax agent will advise you.
